Introducing Jodea, an indie film written by and starring an Orthodox Jewish actress, is getting great reviews for being a fun and heartwarming Pygmalion story. When Chloe Traicos had the idea about a struggling actress who gets taken under the wing of a famous director as a bet, she only hoped that it could get made in the way that it did. The film has already won Best Picture at the Florence Film Awards and Best Comedy at the LA Indies Film Festival. Originally from Zimbabwe, Traicos converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2012. She says, “To me my career is my job and it is not reflective of what kind of Jew I am. I keep Shabbat, I keep kosher [and I] keep the festivals, so I identify as an Orthodox Jew.” Read more here.
